Housing Court Mural

Art Corner Toledo is seeking designs for a mural that will commemorate 30 years of Housing Court in Toledo Municipal Court and the positive impact it has had on neighborhoods. The mural will appear on the Adams Street facing wall of 411 North Michigan Street in Downtown Toledo. The wall measures approximately 70 feet long and at the tallest point is 45 feet high. Artists who intend to submit designs are highly encouraged to visit the wall and take their own photos and measurements.
Designs should incorporate architectural elements of the wall and be inspired by the following:
- The process of restoring a house from decay to renovation and rehabilitation.
- Community gardens
- Historical Preservation
- Neighborhood Improvement and Beautification
- 30 years
Art Corner Toledo is seeking submissions of original artwork for this initiative. Local/regional artists or artist teams working in a medium that can be painted directly onto the pictured wall are invited to submit designs for this project. Each artist or artist team may submit one design for consideration.
Proposed artwork must be submitted digitally by emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Selection will be made by a review committee composed of Toledo Municipal Court Housing Court’s Personnel. Once chosen, it will be submitted to the Arts Commission and the Mayor’s Office for final approval.
Artists will paint the selected design on the wall during the Summer of 2016. All material costs will be covered and an artist fee of $3500 will be provided. This project is open to all artists regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability.
